Blue Desert Savant is what it is. No more, no less. It is wobbly keyboards recorded with a bad microphone at very low levels so as to not wake the parents, then turned up really loud in the recording. It is badly recorded vocals that are meant just to be scratch vocals, but then end up being the real vocals. Only worse. It is pretending you're recording an out of tune guitar through a pawn shop bass amp and boss bass overdrive pedal just to get some beefy, unique distortion sound, but really it's just all you can do. It's bad on purpose, thumbing its nose at everyone's bands that sound so spiffy and crisp because their dads bought them all matching equipment and music lessons and studio time. It's got a heart an soul that are undefinable. Or maybe it doesn't have one at all. It sings about drugs and chaos and despair and outer space and redemption and longing and love and city lights and carbon dioxide overdoses. And it has never been described thus, seriously and in writing, until now. We hope there will be more songs recorded. But we can promise nothing.
